Question Is this USB to HDMI bad or is it my Laptop?

Hello,

My apologies if this is a strange question, but I didn't know where else to turn.

I'm a digital artist working from home abroad. I don't have my tower available so I'm trying to create a at home laptop to monitor to graphics tablet setup.

My laptop only has 1 HDMI port, so I used that dedicated port to mirror the display on my new monitor while the laptop remains closed.

However; I need to connect my Cintiq 13HD graphics tablet (which requires 1 HDMI and USB port). So I decided to buy a random HDMI to USB 3.0 cable via amazon to extend the display. I don't know if it's my computer or the cable..but the display just isn't good? My USB 3.0 ports aren't marked in blue - but they do say SS next to it. Perhaps it's my USB ports? . When the Cintiq (or monitor) uses the USB to HDMI cable it's very leggy.

Sorry for the long question, but essentially before I buy a new cable, I was curious if this is a component cable issue or perhaps it's my Laptop? I'll link all the devices below.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

(I'm unable to post hyper links so unfortunately I can't provide the websites)

USB to HDMI cable - USB to HDMI Adapter,ABLEWE USB 3.0/2.0 to HDMI 1080P
Laptop - Dell inspiron-15-3567-5358 (apparently there a re 2 x USB 3.0)
Drawing Graphics Display - Cintiq-13 -

SS denotes SuperSpeed which only happens with USB3.0 ports. You might want to make sure you're on the latest drivers for your laptop(after you've verified that you're on the latest BIOS version). To verify if the cable or the adapter is the issue, try and source a donor laptop and see if you get the same problem you're experiencing.

The graphics processing is being done on the USB end which explains why it's laggy.

You don't need to add excessive tags to a thread.

Thank you so much for the reply!

I took your advice, made sure BIOS were updated (seems their good).

Tried the USB cable on a different laptop and unfortunately the problem still persists. The screen get a recommended resolution of 1280 x 720 which makes the screen somewhat usable, but UI is huge and blurry. When I try to scale it to 1920 x 1080, even though it adjusts the screen, the lag makes it unusable.

I'm not really too familiar with USB to HDMI's, perhaps there is a recommended brand or setup?

Sorry for all the questions.
