Is this what I should expect from Assassin's Creed: Revelations?

Ok, I bought Assassin's Creed: Revelations, but it seems that even after all the patches it doesn't perform that well.

This game is kind of strange because whether I play the game at lowest settings at 800x600 or maxed out at 1600x900, I get drops to 27 fps and stutters in towns.

I know an Intel Pentium Dual Core @ 3.2ghz + a HD 7750 isn't beastly, but why does it perform so bad on a game that doesn't look that great?

I've played similar games with TONS of NPC's at once like Just Cause 2 and Mafia 2. Neither of them get such a low fps as this game. Heck, the worst Just Cause 2 gets at 1600x900 maxed out his around 30-40fps. Even BO2 single player doesn't get that low of an FPS.

So is there anything I can do to fix this, or is this just another console port?

the game is actually pretty well ported to pc. the problem is you have an old and i mean very old cpu thatis well below minimum requirements for your gpu. in this case you cant oc the cpu because the penny d would only do 3.6 and then throttle as they ran very warm to start with and soon hit there thermal limit with even the slightest oc, even with good cooling... so it would be a waste of time...

you have a massive bottleneck cause by the cpu and there is nothing you can do except upgrade it to a much better core 2 quad minimum... yues you could get a dual but the fact is even they are below minimum spec for new games. so you may as well get a year or 2 use out of your upgrade...

£50 will get you a second hand Q6600 or better of the bay. you may also need to buy a newish 775 motherboard as the penny d may be on the older 467 socket which is incompatible with core 2 duo and quad. you can pick them up for as little as 15 new or refurbished.

I get that, but I should expect 20fps? Like I said, in other console ports, even BF3, I can play on the lowest and still never drop to 20fps atleast. Heck, I can play BF3 single player on ultra and Just Cause 2 on ultra. Even Metro 2033 gives me an average 30fps. Most high-end games don't give me this kind of stutter. I bet there are people who play this on Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, and an i7 and who would get better FPS in this game.

Oh well, time to upgrade my CPU for console ports 🙁. Or just start buying console ports on consoles.

Your CPU is from Q2' 2005 to Q1' 2006:

- ('Q3 2006 is when things changed, again, reminding people that MHz does not equal performance!)

PS: The NPC's in Just Cause 2 don't actually do anything, and they cease to exist if you leave an area and then return to it.

20fps is 'heaps' wait until it's 20spf (seconds per frame).

How does your PC fair in the 3 most recent 3D Marks (esp. the CPU tests)?

Remember: The Intel® 'Core™2 Duo' is +116% more powerful, clock for clock, than an Intel® 'Pentium® D'!
- As in 216% the performance thereof.

looks like he doesnt understand the concept of bottlenecking. yes them other games work because they require 2 weak threads and good graphics. console ports tend to require decnt gfx and strong cpu threading. and be able to handle 3 threads well but the penny d doesnt.
it barley handles 2 threads well. your cpu needs upgrading.

But it even lags in places with no NPC's. Nonetheless, I guess I'll eventually get a better CPU to play unoptimized ports.

Average 30 fps on Metro 2033? How do u play? While looking ithe whole time in the ground? 😛 whats your resolution?
