Is this what I use if case has USB 3.0, but motherboard doesn't?

Question in title. Just want to make sure this will work! So, I plug the USB 2.0 end into my USB 2.0 header on my motherboard, and plug the USB 3.0 end into the cable that runs from the front of my case (that is connected to USB 3.0 port)? And yes I know it will run at 2.0 speeds. THANKS!
