Is This Worth Overclocking?

I am curious if anyone can lead me to believe these that these 3 components should be overclocked.

1) AMD 6400+ (not a BE but I swear my motherboard/processor will allow me to use a lower multiplier)
2) 4x1GB XMS2 DDR2 800 Corsair
3) eVGA 8800GTS G92 512mb currently stock 670

I have plenty of cooling in the case

Arctic Silver 5 and a Nirvana ZEROtherm Premium HSF

My current cpu temp is around 34degrees (I am pretty sure). My ram is only set at 5,5,5,12 1.8v

Let me know what ya guys think (my current 3Dmark score is 11576)

Thanks

Multipliers are unlocked down, so your motherboard probably will let you use a lower multiplier. Definitely worth trying to overclock, even if just for the fun of overclocking and tweaking. You may even see a decent improvement in performance if you get a good enough overclock.

If you're unhappy with the current performance, then overclock it. That 6400+ doesn't have that much headroom I'm afraid.

Agree w/ monst0r, the 6400+ is close to its limits anyway. You might get 200-300Mhz out of it, but that'll be it. Id defiantly look at OCing the 8800GTS tho, its a beast of a card at stock, with tons of headroom for OCing to make it nearly unstoppable (looks over at Crysis box)

what i recommand you to do is lower the multiplier and up the highest stable FSB possible to get higher overall subsystem performance gain.rather then CPU Ghz!

OC the 8800GTS is the best thing to do to boost your performance.

I would have to disagree with most of the above. In my recent experience with a Great overclocking e8400 and the fastest OC 9800GTX (at the time) I OC'd that too and overall saw an increase of 10-12% AT BEST.

So from 180fps to 198fps or 200fps in some games, to a 3fps increase with CRYSIS -everything up at 3840x1200 (i use 2 24" samsungs).

Is it worth the overclock? No.

We have a term for this in Persian, it is called getting rid of your worms. Gets you nowhere.

Peace of mind. I brought all clock levels back to factory defaults and cannot be happier with a system I can trust (damn Windows).

my two cents.
