Is upgrading from 900p to 1080p a big deal?

I am currently gaming on a Samsung 20" 900p monitor. I am thinking of upgrading my graphics card and monitor. I am thinking of buying a Samsung 24" 1080p monitor.

Is upgrading from 900p to 1080p going to improve the looks of the games significantly? Or should I hold on to the 900p to save the money and invest it in some other parts?

20% more horizontal and vertical resolution (44% total extra pixels) will let you see ~44% more detail. It will be noticeable but not necessarily a game-changer. It also means your GPU will need to work ~44% harder to push the same frame rates.

yes i am thinking of upgrading from a gtx 960 to a gtx 1060/1070

The resolution increase alone is not a big deal, but the upgrade from 20" to 24" is a nice one. Given current graphics card prices, I wouldn't buy any right now. A GTX 960 is enough for 1080p gaming if you lower quality settings.

yeah I am going to wait a while before the card prices drop down a bit
