Is upgrading to 6th gen Intel worth it from a 2nd generation point of view?

Good day

So I've been surfing the web in search for some data to warrant an upgrade from my i7 2600k to the new i7 6600k (or i7 5820k).

My major focus area is that i have two 780 ti's and they are currently running at 8x on PCI-e 2.0 slots, now my research has told me that the difference between running a card at 8x and running a card at 16x is very minimal, and the same goes for the difference between PCI-e 2.0 vs PCI-e 3.0. however this information didn't say if i ran on a PCI-e 2.0 and at 8x what the difference would be.

I hope someone can help me get a better understanding of if the jump to either the 5th gen LGA 2011-v3 boards or the 6th gen LGA 1151 boards will make that much of a difference in my setup.

System specs:
Motherboard: P8P67 EVO (Asus)
CPU: i7 2600k (Running at 4.6GHz)
Graphics cards: 2x Gigabyte GHz 780 tis
RAM: Corsair Dominator DDR3 2133MHz (2x4GB) running at 2133MHz
SSD: scorpion deluxe 240GB (PCI-e 8x) Running at 4x
Monitors: 3x LG 24GM77-B

My major usage is for gaming, and then just photo editing and work (but that doesn't really need much power).

My major problem i have with my rig is that whenever i have my screens set to 5760x1080 i cant really play games comfortably as they lag uncontrollably or just randomly (sometimes even if the graphics are at their lowest possible settings).

On that case you probably should consider upgrading your graphics card not your CPU when it comes down to gaming because even if you CPU is 4th it should get the gaming job done pretty easily and efficiently. Lag in games with low setting very strongly refer to the fact that your graphics card is not up to the standard..
