Is usb 2.0/3.0 really incapable of showing 1080p deffinition

my brother told me that if i where to put a bluray movie on a usb thumb drive and plug it into a tv that it would'nt get HD quality off a thumb drive anyone ever here this

he's wrong. you might get a littler bit of stuttering with 1080p on usb 2.0 depending on the make and model of your USB drive, usb 3.0 is definatley fine. I have done this countless times myself
