Right now i use a 720p TV to play my xbox one and my PC, i have another TV coming which is 1080p. Is using a TV instead of a dedicated PC monitor bad? like is there any drawbacks
The drawback is usually refresh rate. Most TV's only display around 30hz, which means you can only display 30 fps. This might not bother you if you play xbox, because that only pushes around 30 fps anyway, but it can be a deal-breaker for some. A good 1080p monitor only runs you $100.

drawbacks: lower refresh unless you look for it. Look For It.
larger pixels - the larger the screen the larger the pixels (@ 1080p) the pixels on a 50 inch TV are roughly twice the size of the pixels on a 25 inch monitor. going to higher resolutions resolves this issue
advantages: price per inch is amazing (my 50 inch 1080 60hz was $218)
remote, speakers, and tuner.
more inputs than a standard monitor.
