Is using this old but unused PSU okay?

I made a PC fairly recently (around January) and had an old 650 watt power supply that seemed to work just fine. I put it in my PC and it has been working fine to this day. Still no problems. I am starting to worry a bit, still. I don't want my 5-10 year power supply going out and possibly breaking any other expensive parts in my PC. The power supply was in a storage building in an old system that my dad never got to work, so he let me have the parts from it. The power supply is a Corsair TX650W. I just want to know if this is okay to leave in my PC and if so for how long probably. As I said it is at most 5-10 yrs old, but I think it might be a bit closer to 9-7 yrs old.

It's fine.

Your specific power supply was manufactured in January, 2009, which is almost a decade old. This is seen from the first four digits in the serial number '09' year, '03' weeks.

Capacitors age when in storage. It is recommended when first using a very old, unused PSU to keep leave it in standby-mode (PSU plugged in and flicked on but computer is not running) for a while, before using it.

Your capacitors a high quality (Matushita and Chemi-Con branded), and the fact you've already been using without issues, the capacitor aging wasn't an issue.

By the way, OEM is almost irrelevant, aside from soldering quality, QC and consistency. It doesn't matter if it's created by CWT or Seasonic, just look for specific reviews for...
My friend has been running a TX850W since his Q6600 build, that came out in 2007. And at one point was running my old i7-950 and dual GTX580 off of it, so it has had some stressful times.

So after a decade and three different systems it is still going.

You might consider putting it on your shopping list to get a new power supply in the near future, but I don't think there is any need to rush.

That depends on which part number your PSU has.

If it has CMPSU-650TX or CMPSU-650TXV2 then those are made by Seasonic and they are solid units. Though, i still would go with new PSU since TX650 came with 5 years warranty and PSUs do age, even when not in use. But Seasonic made units are known to last 10+ years, even when in daily use.

But if it has CMPSU-650TX-C or TX650 (75-001315 / CP-9020038) then those are made by CWT. I wouldn't be brave enough to fire up 7+ y.o CWT made unit. Instead, i'd go with new PSU asap.

The power supply is okay quality / electrical performance. It should be fine for your system for another 5 years, or whenever it starts causing issues, not that we know your system specs.
