Hello,
I inherited a Lenova core 2 2.13, 4 GB Ram with xp pro. The case hase a vista sticker and key code for vista business. Should I keep xp or use vista business?

You've been woefully misinformed...

With that laptop, Vista will run just fine... you won't notice a lot of difference between it and XP. I would recommend 64-bit Vista, since you have 4GB of RAM.

I'm not sure where the previous poster got his information, but Vista's support cycle is certainly not going to end before XP's.

**Sigh, I really wish people giving "advice" on this forum would check the information they are providing.

XP will be supported for 2 years longer than vista.

XP is faster than vista and uses less resources.

Now apologise to this person for providing them with bad information.

It's available to anyone I believe, but as he already has XP pro he will definitely have it.

"When that happens, all users will continue to get security patch updates, but hot fixes and any larger upgrades to the operating system will only be provided to companies that are paying for them. "

In other words we'll still get all our standard updates just no more Service Packs, unless you pay for it.

As sevenvirtues said, XP WILL receive support longer than most Vista versions as Vista support expires in 2012 and all XP support ends in 2014. HOWEVER, there is one exception to this rule. That exception is Vista Business which was the Vista variant named by the OP.

So, XP will give you better performance but Vista Business will be supported longer.

No. Its provided by edition, which usually means server and Pro/Business. However, MS extended it to all versions of XP. This is why XP will receive longer support than most Vista variants.

I suggest gonig to vista ,xp is not safe anymore even when it's fully updated, there's always a hole that allows hackers and virus
vista is a good OS and all the editions including the home editions are supported to 2017 without having to pay any money
