Is windows 10 Defender enough?

I just installed a new hard drive and reinstalled windows 10. I was wondering what anti-virus or utitlities I should get to optimise web surfing and gaming.

My previous anti-virus was McAfee which I find very annoying; I was using the free version but I did try the 30 days trial.

Windows Defender is consider among, if not the, best in "free" AV solutions. Really doesn't matter what you use if you aren't surfing and clicking safely.

If it's a system you have concerns for it's not a bad idea to turn UAC up to higher settings.

Generally, yes. Win Defender is no worse than any other.
The best AV exists between your ears.

Defender is fine.
It updates on a regular basis, runs scans in the background, does not cause any fuss.
No anti product will protect against cockpit error.
If you want to harden up your browsing a little look into ublock origin.
It will help keep you away from bad sites and cuts down on the clutter on your screen.

Any antivirus app with regular virus database update is good enough.
