[SOLVED] is xmp safe

im planning to build a new pc
specs
rtx 2080 evga black
ryzen 7 1800x
corsair vengeance ddr4 ram 3000mhz
msi b450 tomahawk motherboard

i know that pc ram wont run at advertised speeds and i dont want to manually overclock
so i want to try xmp profile but i have seen online that it could kill ram is this true?

It absolutely can't kill the ram. Some debate that it theoretically could shorten life span of the memory controller on the cpu. I've seen no such evidence and I've got a few rigs in service from the Sandy bridge days that have had 1.65v (1.5v standard) xmp profiles and they're still chugging along
