Actually, it is like having two graphics cards in the software.
You just don't need a Crossfire-enabled motherboard since all the communication between the cards is internal/on the one card.

The RX295x2 is just two RX280s connected through a PLX PCIe switch. For this thing to work, each endpoint needs to at least have a different GUID for drivers to be able to track which GPU is which during enumeration when multiples of the same device ID exist.
