Winners in the Arena matches gain recognition and the losers gain valuable
battle experience without earning character debt.

*recognition* = INFLUENCE points I assume. Maybe a betting match situation?

THIS is what I am eager for...

Players may select from hundreds of new costume choices to outfit their
Heroes with the latest styles from around the world!

New Costume Selections!
The award-winning character creation system has expanded to include all-new
costume choices for the players to customize their heroes!

* A robust selection of Anime-inspired costumes add another level of
depth to the characters created by the players.

Body & Face Scaling Feature!
Players can break the mold even further by utilizing this new addition to
the character creation system.

* New face and head types provide players with the ability to create
original hero designs that are truly unique to the super-powered character
genre.

New costume options, some even anime styled.
Body sliders.

All i can say is, it's about friggen time. For all the options it has
there aren't that many combinations that actually look good.

I forsee a large increase in anime-type schoolgirl heroines once this
comes out.

Well, it's not like you have to redesign your outfit every session. I kind
of like tinkering up a new look - but I've decided to concentrate on two
alts instead of filling up all my slots with 5-10 level tinkertoys. :)

Could be. Or, given that the preview also mentions a ranking system,
it could mean it in the more literal sense of the word, too (or
instead).

Yay! Hopefully there will be cat ears for males now. And more long hairs.

Trenchcoats would be very welcome too.

Probably no wings, or they would have mentioned it all over the place.

They said way back when that wings would only be coming on the future
"winged AT" due to animation issues (I'm assuming that's the Avilan one
mentioned.)

Hope the winged AT is the next epic one to come out.

Pretty sure trenchcoats would have been as well, as they're up there
among the top requested costume features.

Not really, since pvp is consensual.
Wasn't talking about schoolgirl uniform type, just the anime "standard"
of the teenage heroine who fights crime out of school hours.

It's hard to make a "small and cute" heroine, with a chest that belongs
in a strip club.

Great.

More clones.

More GenericHeroXXX (replace XXX is the next higher number, since I saw
GenericHero243 yesterday).

More lawsuits?

Possibly, but not necessarily.
I make anime-type heroines now, as in small and cute, I don't use anime
names for them.

If people are stupid enough to use widely known names, they deserve to
be GSs.

>More lawsuits?

Unlikely, since there is no competing product, unlike Marvel and their
planned Marvel-superhero MMORPG.
Even DC isn't suing, so I doubt the anime folks would.

*chuckle* While it's a bit gratuitous, gotta admit, it does fit with
the genre. ;) Can't think of many super heroines who aren't well
endowed. (Though, I know there are a few out there...they're a rare
breed)

Er, yeah. I was trying to placate my almost-5yo twins by making a character
for each of them. The boy came out pretty cool. The girl came out fine
except that I won't repeat the specifics about her comment about her chest
looking like Mommy's. :p

Well that depends on what you call the genre.

If you're only going to include north american mainstream comics
(Marvel/DC) that yeah, there are few (IE Kitty Pryde).
Once you add in the non mainstream, and anime/mangas though, there are a
lot more non EEE types.

Well you know, the first time I spotted Lusca (quite by accident - I was
street hunting, hit target and had a tentacle in my target window), once
a team had assembled I did say that it was the prevalence of toons in
schoolgirl outfits that had brought him to PC. There was much snikering
and agreement.

There were a few that broke that "Super-Boob Woman" that has grown so
popular these days.

DC COMICS "Major Bummer" character had some wonderfully unusual
secondary characters including a nice elderly lady.

Although, to think of it, aside from the young girl superheroes and the
elderly women superheroes most have huge boobs and gym-toned bodies. There
have been a number of non-pretty female villians, but a meager offering of
non-pretty superheroines.

An incomplete, list to say the least

Whenever my wife complains about the perfectly proportioned
females in comic books, I ask her how many imperfect mail heroes
she can find. There's quite equal opportunity idealizing going on
in these things. ;)

Of course, female superheroes are idealized to be sexy (for some
definition of "sexy" that mind-bogglingly includes wasp-size waists
and ankles, impossibly arched backs, bee-sting pouty lips, and
perfectly spherical breasts the size of their head). Male superheroes
are idealized to be powerful (large arms, necks, thighs, calves, etc.).

Idealization for both genders, but for different reasons.
