Issue when installing new processor

Hey, So I recently went to upgrade the processor in my old laptop. I made sure the new one was compatible. I took all the proper steps when opening it up and installing it but when I went to start my computer I got a black screen, the fan started up, but nothing else. Then the Caps Lock, Num. lock and scroll lock lights were blinking continuously. I tried reinstalling my old processor and now the same error occurs. Does anyone have a fix or know what the issue is?

Try clearing the BIOS by pulling the CMOS battery for about 10 seconds with the battery and wall power removed, then try your original CPU again. You could have damaged the socket or something else in the system. The flashing lights are often an error code that can tell you where the issue is, look up your error code blinks for the laptop model.
