It doesn't look like an active HDMI adapter will work either. The BenQ XL2411 is several monitors and in their resolution chart for the series, there's no indication that you can do 144 Hz over HDMI. You'd need to go active DP to DVI adapter as Richie notes.

(The base XL2411 is the only one without a DP connector)

You would need something like this.

Adapters can be a little dicey, so I would definitely not recommend this. This essentially $115 for a used monitor (since you're "buying" your own so that you can keep using it). Given that you can get new 1080p/144 monitors for $140-$160, I...
The issue is you will need to buy an active HDMI or DP to DVI adapter which are usually around 80-120 USD. For that money you can usually find a used monitor that will have more modern connectors.

Again the adapter must be Active Adapter which have internal electronics that convert the signals, the easiest way to tell if an adapter is truly active is that it will either be USB powered or have a DC power adapter.

Your other option is, if you're still within 30 days -- hopefully you are and are researching this before you're outside the return window -- you can send it back and order a 2060 Super that does have a DVI-DL connection.
