Issue with activating windows?

I recently changed hardware and linked my microsoft account to my email and I also have my product key. Both methods didnt work my microsoft account said that there wasnt any accounts linked to it. I then entered my product key which also saidit didnt work gave me (0xc004f050). Is this because I previously had win 10 home and I the installed win 10 pro with a DvD. Does it even matter if I activate windows or not? Thanks!

A Win 10 Home license will not activate a Win 10 Pro install.
