Hoping I can get a little help here. I just picked up an Asus A55BM-E mobo to use in a budget build. I paired it with an AMD a10 7850k APU, a Corsair 500W PSU, and 2x4GB of 1600 Corsair Vengance ram. Everything went together fine and I can post and enter the bios, however every time I attempted to install Windows 8 the machine would lock up. After doing some troubleshooting I discovered that not only did the machine run fine with just 1 of the 4gb sticks installed, but I was able to install windows and get everything running without a hitch. However, if I install the second stick the machine refuses to boot up again. Ive tried both sticks in both slots and they both function fine on their own. The mobo uses a fancy mouse driven bios that I'm not too familiar with. Upon digging through that Ive noticed that it rates both at 1333. I went in and changed that in the bios' AI Tweak settings, but that doesn't help. If anyone could offer some insight that would be great, as this is totally driving me insane. Thanks in advance!

Solution

I'm having the same issue. I was also having problems with installing the utilities but that was fixed by updating the bios. I am curious is anyone has a solution.
At your first problem on the PC running when there's only 1 stick installed - may be just bad installation of the RAM. The default clock speed of your RAM is 1333MHz - but you can still tweak it up to 1600MHz if you wish to.

Nothing's wrong with that :)

Does your PC recognizes 8GB of Memory?

The system refuses to get past the loading windows screen when there is 8gbs of ram. If I cut it back to just 1 4gb stick the system boots without issue. I have installed both sticks, one at a time, in each of the 2 ram slots and gotten the same result. I have a feeling its just a setting that I am missing in this bios....but its certainly got me pulling my hair out.

Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot this with me cinnamon cider! The OS is in fact 8.1 x64. The bios recognizes that I have two 4GB 1333 sticks installed. I did update the bios to the latest version which is 1202.

What is the part number of 2x4GB of 1600 Corsair Vengance ram?

The motherboard supports AMD Memory Profile (AMP) Technology which may differ from XMP eXtreme Memory Profile technology that Corsair uses. Instead of manually setting memory clock, timings, and DRAM voltage, the technology only requires a single setting. If you don't use these Memory Profiles and just leave memory at default settings, you will be using very conservative SPD Serial Presence Detect settings.

AMD A10-7850K - Supported memory: DDR3-2133

The UEFI BIOS NB settings would probably have memory settings available.

The model number of the ram is CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B. I set all of the ram settings back to default and both sticks are back to 1333Mhz. However, it will still only boot windows with one stick installed.

was this ever solved? i am having the exact same issue with this motherboard. 1 stick works fine, 2 doesnt. i have swapped sticks and get the same result, so one of the sticks is not bad. i have also tried swapping with 3 different manufactures of ddr3 memory. always the same problem-only works with 1 x 4gb stick installed. i have tried both the latest 1302 bios and even tried the 1202 bios. neither worked.

help!?!?!?

Solution
There is no solution to this issue. I've tried 4 different types of ram that are on their QVL list including corsair dominator platinum from my own pc. I've used every windows version from xp - 8.1 and all fail to install with the latest bios if you have more than 4 gigs of ram. With less than 4 gigs you can successfully install the OS but can't install drivers. If more than 4 gigs are installed after the OS is installed you receive an IRQ Less than or Equal error and the os won't boot any longer. Had Asus send me another unit and still the same issue. They are now going to ship me another unit and supposedly test this one for the exact issues. Mind you that the person you speak to at asus isn't the one that will work on the unit nor do you ever get to speak to that person. So I'm guessing I will receive a 2nd unit that does not work with the A10 processor. When I asked them what they would do if their motherboard does not work properly with the A10 as advertised they said they would just keep shipping me the same motherboard. It amazes me how asus does as well as they do. Everytime I've had to deal with them their customer service is terrible you can expect to wait an hour or more for support, then they want you to pay for shipping on replacements older than 7 days even though its their issue. You have to then speak to a manager and argue your way to the understanding that they should have better quality control of their products and the products you just purchase should work longer than 7 days and you should not have to pay for shipping when its their issue. Really terrible customer service and technical support.
