Good morning guys. This problem has been persistent the past two months with my ARRIS SBG6580-2 wireless modem. (internet provider is Spectrum). If I do a speed test on the desktop (ethernet cable) the speed is around 300 mbps as it should be. When I check the speeds via my Pixel 2 XL/macbook on 2.4ghz speed goes down to 35mpbs and at 5ghz its higher but around 70mbps.
Now, when I launch games (such as Project Cars 2 even with career mode) the wifi drops and I can't connect to it via my laptop, phone and google home mini but once I shut down the game it restores connection. Wifi ONLY stays connected is with the wireless on 5ghz. I do not have options to have 2.4/5 on at the same time and I need 2.4 for the wifi boiler downstairs.
Modem settings for windows 10 (1903) is set to max performance and power saving setting has been turned off with the same results. I do not see anything in the settings for the modem itself that would create this problem.
With Spectrum they only allow certain modems/routers so I won't have to pay extra per month. The one that I saw that might be better is the Netgear N750 WNDR7300 unless you see one that's better. I have the 300mbps plan but I assume up to 400 should work as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
