I recently upgraded from a GTX 650 to an R9 270x and now my secondary monitor blacks out when I game on the primary monitor in full screen. This was not an issue with my old GTX 650 - I could game full screen on the primary display and still view other content on the secondary display (email, word doc, browser... whatever).
I'm wondering if maybe there's a setting in AMD CCC that cuts of the secondary display to maximize GPU performance while gaming full screen on the primary display. If I game in a window on the primary display, instead of full screen, then the secondary display is not blacked out. Only happens with gaming - for instance, I can watch a full screen video on the primary display at 1080p and still view other content on the secondary display at its native lower resolution.
Monitor Setup (desktop extended to secondary display)
Primary: Asus VN248H (1920x1080)
Secondary: HP w2207h (1680X1050)
Used same connections with both GPU's
GPU DVI -> HDMI primary monitor
GPU DVI -> HDMI secondary monitor
System
Windows 7 Pro
Asus P8B75-M
I5-3570
8G RAM
GTX 650 (old) - R9 270x (new)
Can't understand why this worked fine with my old GTX 650 and is now a problem with the new R9 270x. Is this a limitation of the AMD drivers?
