Baisically i've been hearing some bad noises coming from my case (antec p182) recently.

Turns out it seems to be a combination of 1 of the Tricool fans and the actual CPU cooler/fan.

I don't mind the Tricool fans, they run on the lowest setting and seem to keep my pc at an ok temp, so i'll probably just buy another one of them (any idea where i could pick one up in the UK?)

As for the CPU cooler, i think it's always been a bit on the loud side so i'm looking for some other options. Currently it is a: "Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)" and my CPU is an intel quad core Q6600

Any recommendations on what i should go with? i'm looking for something that squiet and obviously don't want it hindering performance or only lasting a few months.

thanks in advance

You can get the Tricool at ebuyer.com.

I've just ordered an Akasa Nero CPU cooler on the basis of temp and noise reduction in the Frostytech chart. Might be worth looking at but I haven't tried it yet. I think it was £28 on ebay. For a really quiet CPU cooler the Scythes always seem to do well...

Quick update: my Nero just arrived and I've done some tests...

After 5 mins of running Prime95 and Furmark with the case open my core temp has dropped from 64C to 36C. My northbridge has also dropped from 69 to 44- I guess because the air is drawn over it before going through the cooler. All in all, pretty impressed, especially considering the fan never got above 1100rpm and was pretty much inaudible. Recommended. Only thing is, on an AM3 board it can only point up or down, not out the back.
