Hi I recently got myself a GTX 980ti. Amazing card however the colours on my display are all washed out when I am connected via HDMI. On DVI they are fine. I then noticed that in NVIDIA control panel, the resolution is set to 1080p Native under the Ultra HD, HD, SD section. When I change the resolution to 1920 X 1080 - PC monitor, it just reverts back to the native resolution as soon as I play a game.

Does anyone know a fix for this and why this happens?

Many Thanks

Solution
First, check your monitors' refresh rate, if your PC has it set higher than the monitor, you need to lower it from your PC "Via NVCP"
If that didn't work, try another cable, it might be just a faulty cable "HDMI is notorious for going bad especially from physical stress or static shock"

Check the nvidia color and video segments and report back.

Last solution, use Wagnards DDU utility.

How to use DDU "Display Device Uninstaller" :

1. Install a copy of the latest nvidia driver from : http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us don't run the executable yet, save it in a convenient location!

2. Run the DDU utility and choose the first option "remove driver and restart i guess"

3. When...
What I mean to say was the PC - 1920 X 1080 resolution choice was much better colours than the 1920 x 1080 Ultra HD , HD, SD section which my monitor keeps defaulting back to.

I think I have fixed it now, its weird, I changed the output dynamic range to limited, applied the settings, then changed them back to full and it seems to be much better.

3. When you reboot, your resolution might be much lower, locate the nvidia driver you saved before and run the executable.

4. Choose custom install, and later you have to click on the clean installation checkbox.

And after that, your pc will restart once again and hopefully it works.
