Hi as stated in the thread title, I'm currently having issues installing Windows 7 onto an Asrock Z170 Pro4/D3 1151, as this motherboard does not have any USB 2.0 ports and since Windows 7 does not support USB 3.0 until you install an update I am quite unsure of what to do as I've tried just about everything including using a USB to PS2 port to attempt to install Windows 7 but that didn't work. I really am stumped on this one and need some help

Intel i3 6100
Asrock Z170 Pro4/D3 1151
Samsung 850 250gb
Asus GTX 950 2Gb

If you need any more details just let me know and I'll get back to you as soon as possible, Thank you!

Update: I forgot to enable the legacy usb setting in motherboard, turned on but still has no effect as mouse is unable to move though now showing on the screen.

There are several workarounds for this. The easiest for you I think since the motherboard has PS2 ports is to install Windows from a DVD. You will have to slipstream the drivers into the Windows iso file, but that's not too difficult as long as you have access to another PC with a DVD burner. Download all the motherboard drivers from Asrock's website and insert them into the iso and start your installation. You'll have to use a PS2 mouse and keyboard.

Hi thanks for the quick reply, I am currently installing from a CD drive, the problem is that Windows 7 doesn't recognize the devices that I plug in as it doesn't have any native support for USB 3.0, I have a USB to PS2 adapter that I'm using at the moment to try to workaround but it doesn't seem to be working. Any other ideas?

Currently the issue is that the mouse is unable to move past the 'Windows is loading files' part, on the first installation screen even with the PS2 connection, the system doesn't seem to be frozen however I am unable to do anything with the mouse at that screen though the cursor shows up. Thoughts?

Do you not have a PS2 emulator in your bios settings? That would allows the usb ports to functions as a PS/2 port.

Some PS2 to USB adapters are made for mouse only or keyboard only. If it does not work with the mouse, does it work with the keyboard? Using keyboard only would at least help you get windows installed.
