Hello everyone,

My tech knowledge is very limited, but I’m hoping this might make sense to one of you.

I’m currently trying to iron out several issues I’m having with my (self-built) computer, but am struggling to pinpoint the initial cause of my problems/where to begin troubleshooting. Which is making it hard for me to search for solutions.

For a while I’ve been having issues with:

- 4 of my 6 USB ports not reading input
- When I remove my mouse or keyboard from either of the 2 working ports, these stop reading input too
- I cannot connect to WiFi and believe my network driver may need updating (currently set up on a wired, LAN connection that is inconsistent)

I looked in to downloading USB and network driver updates the above and found a lot of threads suggesting it may be an issue with my motherboard. When I reviewed my system information I noticed my motherboard is only listed as “to be listed by OEM” (original equipment manufacturer).

My mother board is an AS ROCK N68-V53-FX, so I went to AS ROCK’s and located a suitable Windows BIOS update (I cannot update my flash drive due to my USB error), hoping to resolve this “to be listed by OEM” issue. However, when I tried to execute this update I got the following error message “error - loading driver”.

So now I’m confused on where to begin.

I'm guessing the motherboard is the issue. But do I even need this BIOS update - do I need the motherboard to be listed properly in my system info, or is this unnecessary? Should I be looking to update my motherboard in some other way?

Many thanks,

Tessa

Thanks for your response, Foothe.

I attempted to install the latest (Windows) update from that list this morning, but every time I tried to run the .exe install file I got the error message "error - loading driver", so I shut down and went to work.

I've come back this evening, switched the PC on and after my splash screen/boot options have been greeted with a black screen reading "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a key". I tried to run this by default BIOS setting but it just keeps looping back to this black screen.

Do I need to obtain an MS Windows CD to boot with to resolve this? I don't have a disc currently as I used a friend's spare key.

Any help would be much appreciated, at a total loss on what to do.
