Issue with Nvidia GeForce 377.88 driver update

I have an acer laptop and every time i try to update the geforce drive from 355.23 to 377.88 a blue screen pops up with an error! the error is irql_not_less_or_equal and after the blue screen i am forced to restart my pc!! i am using win 8.1!

While I am on Win7, I have not had a issue with the drivers, in fact they are damn stable and clean for a change.

I would download Driver Sweeper from 3D Gurus or Driver Fusion. Remove your Nvidia drivers, then run Driver Sweeper/Fusion to REALLY remove Nvidia. Reboot and you will be in VGA mode. Redownload (to make sure the original download wasn't FUBAR) the 377.88 drivers and reinstall.

This is the most common way to do a 'clean' install of drivers. Make sure your in a Admin account though to do any of this.

Well that is a solution but i just wanted to play Watch Dogs with optimized settings!!!

Did you make sure that you are installing the laptop version of the driver?

Yep WD is a real mess right now on ANY pc! does not matter what driver or gpu or cpu!
they are working on a patch fix for it. Ubi got in real deep this time!

After considering all your answer i stayed to the oldest version and reconsidered the buy of WD cause i was on minimum reqs of the game!! thank you all for you answers!!
