[SOLVED] Issue with text clarity(?) in Firefox

I must have changed a setting in Firefox and now the text doesn't appear very clear anymore.
Check out the image.
Chrome on the left the text is very smooth and clear whereas on the right the Firefox text is not smooth and has a 'choppy' appearance.

I checked what settings I know in Firefox and the Font says Default.
It's not my new monitor(which I thought it was) 'cos if I pull the browser to my older monitor it's still crappy.

In Firefox click the 3 horizontally lined icon ("Hamburger") in the upper right corner.

Select Options > Language and Appearance. > Fonts and Colors.

(Mine is set at Default Times New Roman Size 16).

Then check Advanced.

Ok, I've done that. it opens up the sub menu with some other font options. Everything looks ok in there.

What was I looking for?

Going deeper-----

My Firefox Advanced Settings:

Fonts for Latin

Proportional = Serif (Size = 16)

Serif = Default Times New Roman

Sans Serif = Default Arial

Monospace = Courier New (Size = 13)

Allow Pages to chose.... Checked.

Still matching....?

When I had that exact same display issue in Firefox a couple of years ago, I discovered it was because my monitor brightness and/or contrast was too high, and strangely it was only Firefox that was affected, other browsers were fine. Anyway, I reduced the brightness gradually while I had Firefox on screen until the text problem was gone.

That was my experience of course, may not work for you.

Makes me wonder about the resolutions as well.

Monitor (make and model) comparisons just for the record.

I will run Firefox on my system and tinker with the brightness and/or contrast.

To get a lot of information about your video setting use Powershell command:

"Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_VideoController"
