Hi!

I am not sure if it is the right section to ask my question. Sorry, if it is not.

I am facing an issue with my Dell laptop (Inspiron 5521) that I can't fix.

Here is my problem. 3 days ago my laptop had crashed with the appearance of a blue screen of death. I wasn't in front of it when it happened to see what the error message was.

When rebooting, I saw a black screen with the following inscription:
Checking media: [fail]

Then the logo of the manufacturer appeared and then a black screen again with the following inscription:
No boot device found. Press any key to reboot.

Pressing any key gave no results. So, I shut down and reboot my laptop. I could work with my laptop after a long booting (around 20 minutes).

In the two following days. The booting was lengthing several minutes. I could work around 8 hours before the laptop crashed again with the appearance of a blue screen of death.

I saw the two following error messages:
Critical process died
Unexpected store exception

When rebooting, the same issue as seen the first time happened again.

I lauched the ePSA pre-boot diagnostic. An issue was found with the hard drive. The error code was 2000-0151 which means that the hard drive is about to die.

I used the manufacturer tool software to do a scan and a fixing of the hard drive if possible.

I took hours to scan and fix. But, since then I can't boot my laptop.

I heard a loop of 2 beeps. According to Dell's website, it means that the RAM memory is not connected. I opened my laptop, took off the RAM memory and reseat it. There are two sticks and two slots. I tried all combinations possible but nothing worked.

I also cleared the CMOS by taking the battery off for more than an hour. Nothing changed.

I bought a new RAM memory but it didn't resolve the issue.

I opened again my laptop to check if there were no misconnection, nothing dismantled or else and I cleaned the dirts.

Now, when booting, I hear a new loop of 5 beeps. Still according to the Dell's website, there is an issue with the CMOS.

I cleared it again by taking off the battery, but I am still facing the same issue: loop of 5 beeps when booting.

I don't know what I can do more. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for your help.

Solution
Did you remove the battery pack before resetting the cmos? How did you reset it? Remove the cmos battery and press the power button for about 30seconds.

The initial fault is your hard drive, replace it.

Hey, did you solve your problem?
I have exactly the same issues with my Dell Inspiron 3437
It started after a hard disk replacement, at first I had rounds of 2 beeps, so I verified my ram sticks, and reseated.
After that, one of both rams awere not recognized anymore, and I even got a brand new unite, and still not recognized.
The rounds of 2 beeps had changes to rounds of 5 beeps, which is extremely annoying. But indicates a cmos battery failure.

I am not very tecchy, so I wasn't able to access this little piece of thing.
But I get the same blue screens of death like you described.
-Critical process died
-Unexpected store exception

Yesterday night I had the second one again. And when I rebooted this morning, it could not find the hard disk anymore.
I rebooted again, this time it started. Then run the hardware test on the Dell website, and it found the Hard Disk Failing.
This is a new HDD which I use since less than 3 months. It's hard to believe that's already dead!

Maybe that little battery is causing all those issues?

I would be happy if you could share your solution.
Or anyone else who has an idea on how to solve this.
Thank you
