Question Issue with Time Machine

I've used the same TM for a year and now all the sudden it will not do a snap shot. Don't know why. Have about 600G of space on it.

can you provide more detail? does it give you an error or something? what macOS version are you running?

I am using the latest macOS. The error is in the original post. It can not make a snap shot. I have since deleted most snap shots (via command line) and moved to another drive. Meaning I was backing up a 2TB drive and moved back to a 4TB. Using the same TM. It seems sporadic.

by latest macOS do you mean Mojave or Catalina Beta?
and i was asking for an error code of some kind.

Mojave. Yes, the error I was getting is it can't do a snap shot. It did not show a code. A notification.

does it say "preparing for backup" for a really long time before it fails?

No, sorry, that is not the error I am getting. I am aware of that one though.
