Issue with upgrading to HD Monitor?

I have a general question about monitors. I have an older DELL 1907FPt monitor that is dying. I bought an AOC 2770vh1. Spec-wise it is a far superior monitor. I have been playing CODMW2 and BFBC2 for approx 6 months and have had no problems whatsoever with the performance of my old DELL, except that it is dying. I have an AMD Phenom II X6 1075T, GA-890FXA-UD5, 4GIG DDR3 1600, ATI Radeon 4850, Velociraptor HD that I just upgraded from an i7 920 system. First of all this new system blows away the old one and I haven't even began to overclock it yet. ANYWAY, when I play either of the games now the screen seems a little choppy and with BFBC2 I actually get a headache after a couple of minutes. I have increased the refresh rate as high as possible but no change. Here are my questions: 1) Could the choppiness be a factor of upgrading from a standard monitor to a HD and is this just the nature of HD monitors? 2) Could the choppiness be a factor of moving to a much larger screen and widescreen, 19" std to 27" HD Widescreen? Are there any in-game settings that could/would resolve any of this? I bought the monitor last night and am ready to pack it up and return it today. Any information would be greatly appreciated. If I return it I'm looking at replacing it with an LG-W2486L that I can get for the same price as the AOC, however, I'm concerned that my issues may be related to the newer technology and not the specific brand/model of what I choose. Thanks again for any info...
