Hello everyone. I have recently bought a TCL C745 TV to be able to use it for PC gaming as well. My understanding is -when connected- the TV is supposed to detect a VRR capable device and turn on game master mode automatically. However, when I connect my PC to the TV, it does not turn on game master mode automatically, I have to turn it on manually.

I also cannot seem to turn VRR on. I checked a few videos; the 'turn vrr on' option is not there when I go to settings - input and channels. I have 2 questions I hope to get help with:

1. How do I turn VRR and ALLM on?
2. If i cannot turn VRR on, how does this affect my gaming experience? Is it just about screen tearing, or if I cannot turn VRR on, does that mean that I cannot utilize the TV's 120hz display and I will keep playing games at 60 hz?

I have an RTX 4090 and I am connect it to the TV using a 15 meter fiber optic HDMI 2,1 cable.

Some things you can try:

  • Most TVs want the input used for PCs to be explicitly renamed/relabeled to "PC" (or similar) for correct processing
  • I know on Windows 10 there was a Windows option that had to be enabled to support VRR in addition to the setting within the Nvidia Control Panel; I think it was hidden under Game Settings or something similar
  • For testing, the NVIDIA Pendulum Demo still works well.
  • Assuming you are using Borderless Fullscreen, make sure that under Gsync settings you enable it for both Fullscreen AND Windowed applications; Borderless Fullscreen is still *technically* a Windowed application
