Okay so I am running windows 7 I had an issue back when I tried installing a gtx 770 last year and gave up on it and took it back. My current card is on its last legs so I decided I would upgrade my card again. I'm having the same issues as I did with the 770, I would get 6 beeps if I connected the dvi cable to the on board graphics slot or 6 beeps when trying to boot with my current card.

I have legacy enabled and the uefi or whatever disabled. There's no secure boot option for my pc either. It is a prebuilt hpe 1180, so far with this card it will boot into windows but only if it loads up to my boot screen where it displays the pch info and allows you to go to the boot menu. The problem with this is once it gets there it freezes. Then I get 3 beeps but a pause between each beep then it boots into windows. Any way I can get some help to figure out this issue?

I have seen this discussed before and feel sure HP was one of the OEM's discussed. These OEM machines can have a predefined list of accepted upgrades in bios, if you try upgrading to a part which is not on that list your system wont boot. You need to check what upgrade options HP allow with your system.

I may have gotten the issue fixed there was an update in my bios that recently came out. I got it to boot up with out the beeping. Once I'll see if it's normal from now on
