Hey!

I got a 1Tb HDD with 356Gb of data used (fully functional).

I have tried using Macrium and EaseUS Todo apps to clone the data to a 512Gb SSD (brand new). However, I got the following errors:

Macrium: error 8 - write failed - 1117 - the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.

EaseUS: failed to write sector 0x1760e077

What am I doing wrong?

I have attempted to do the cloning process before and after initiating the SDD (creating a partition for the full SSD volume under disk management).

Thanks for your guys time!

I deleted unnecessary files, defraged and checked for errors on the HDD prior to installing the SSD.

I concluded the issue was with the SSD and, uninstalled it.

I rebooted the system and I got an error while doing the quick formatting on the SSD.

I then began a full format ... 6 hours ago.

How much longer am I supposed to wait?

This is what the task manager window looks like:

I agree with Karenjoly that if it's under warranty then you can easily get it exchanged. However, there is no harm in trying any software to clone your drive from failed HDD to a new one or to a new SSD with all your data. You can check out this blog as well for few solutions to clone the hard drive - https://www.stellarinfo.com/blog/how-to-migrate-windows-10-from-old-hdd-to-ssd/
