Question Issues connecting a PS3 controller

Hey I've got an issue connecting my PS3 controller to my laptop, now before you redirect me to videos on youtube...I checked them. I checked my drivers (net framework, Microsoft visual, etc.) The only conclusion I can draw is that I need a bluetooth dongle as opposed to using the built in one on my laptop. Any ideas?

What is the networking card that's on your laptop? Often times you may need to reinstall the drivers for your networking card with the right version to enable Bluetooth on it. Other times the networking card might only be wifi and not have BT.

Make and model of your laptop? Latest BIOS update for said laptop? Which version of Windows 10 are you on(assuming you're on Windows 10)?

I have a HP 8570w, the bios I'm unsure and Windows 10 is 64 bit. The thing is when I have it connected with the cord it still doesn't come up in "add a device"
