i cant fidgure out whats wrong with my system... every time i up my overclock past 4.4ghz windows 8.1 locks up on boot and system wont do anything... it runs perfectly fine at default never been warmer than 60 C and have had the overcock set at 4.5 ghz but like i said windows locks up. also does it when i put my ram into default performance mode... if anyone here may know whats going on plz let me know. also if their is a trusting guide somewhere online that will tell me what all i need to adjust when i overclock that would be great thank you

Well its not the CPU, as long as you got good cpu cooling, overclocking should not be a problem, I got my 4790k at 4.9Ghz without over voltage.
Is the RAM new? how do you put it on "Default Performance Mode"? is it XML profile? and full PC Specs please,

about the 4.9 Ghz, i think my mobo over voltage it depending on what it need it 1.3v atm,
but damn it, I cant cross the 5.0 Ghz line.

Start by lower ram frequency to the lowest value, you can raise it later. Lock cache ratio to 40x.

Try 1.2v on cache, 1.25 on vcore, 1.85 I put voltage.

Now raise the CPU multi to 46x and it should boot.

You'll have to play with setting, but this is a decent place to start

ok im running prime 95 is it normal for my temps to be in the lower 80s... getting that number from asrocks a-tunner
