Issues with core temp readings

Hello,
Regardless of the program I'm using to get core temp readings on a Q9550, my core 2 and 3 readings are always at 41C, meaning they don't vary with the load (e.g., when I run p95 stress tests). I used speedfan, coretemp, realtemp, and getting the same result. Core 0 and 1 temperatures are in the low 30's on idle and vary based on the load. Is the issue with the processor or my mother board not reporting the readings correctly? I have GA-P35-DS3L running F9 bios. Before my Q9550 I had an E4500, the temps on the cores read correctly, i.e., varied with the load.

Did you reinstall your OS when you switched processors because if your chipset drivers are not installed correctly then you might not get the right readings. I would say this is a driver issue.

It is an issue with the thermal sensors on the chip itself. A lot of the C2Q's have the problem of sticking temps or not going below a certain point. For example, my Q9400's cores 3 and 4 never dip below 38 degrees, but will go up when used.

He said they dont even vary under prime 95 test they should go up under prime to atleast 50c.

Thank you for the input. I did not reinstall my OS (Win 7). However, I also have a hackintosh installed on the same PC (w/o updating the DSDT and tailoring it for the Q9550) my temp sensors give me the same readings, namely, cores 2 and 3 are stuck at 41C. Does this give you any more insight into my issue?

But I'll do the OS reinstall tonight.

Not really buwish could be right i have heard of sensors getting stuck at lower temps but they usually go up when you put a load on it. Thats why i think it might be a driver issue something might have gotten corrupted happens sometimes. After you reinstall make sure you load all your motherboards drivers. If that dosent work it might be bad temp sensors on the die rare but not unheard of.
