So a month ago I posted about my issue here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/preparing-automatic-repair-boot-cycle/1cb2e7f6-fb6e-4a9b-a166-a258e51eba80 and I never could fix it. It turns out I most-likely am dealing with a failing harddrive... If I had to guess what could've caused hardware issues in general, sometimes my laptop would randomly wake up (I think) while in the bag causing the heat to be trapped with and in the bag and computer. I'm guessing that could've had something to do with this.
Anyways, after having my issue with that harddrive, I got an old usb and, using win-to-usb, installed windows on it. This worked great! I got this thing called recuva and tried to restore the files on my normal HDD with that.... And I got from 400GB worth of everything else, 2GB of mox files or something (can't remember clearly). So I gave up and after deciding that the usb I had was too slow to keep running windows from, I formatted my HDD and tried to install windows again. It would be extra slow to install and stuff, but it did. But rebooting after my first boot to desktop led to either a black screen or "preparing automatic repair." This happened 11 times and I didn't know what to do so I formatted it, got a faster usb and went for a week or so running off of a sandisk ultra fit. Then, I thought, I could try to run windows normally by having system files on my flashdrive and other files/programs on my HDD. That went okay, but in order to do I had to turn the disk on (as in disk management the disk was set to 'offline.' So for the rest of the week things went well, other than slower speeds in general, but that was because I was booting off of a flashdrive. But what worries me now is at the end of that week, the flashdrive ran into an error while booting windows and also fell into the "preparing automatic repair" bootcycle. I'm not sure if this was because the other failed hardrive was turned online and was being used or if it has to do with something else, but that makes me wonder if it was my Harddrives failing or something wrong with my bios or something and it corrupts windows (if that's even possible).
I want to get a new harddrive since I know that's definitely the issue for the first one, but I'm not sure if there's something else that has a part in it. Does anybody think that there's a problem somewhere else in my laptop? Or was it just a failed harddrive, and booting off of a flashdrive that caused the issues?
I really don't want to spend money on another harddrive just to watch that one fail as well. All knowledge on this would be appreciated, thanx.
PS: I have an Asus N550JK-DS71T about 2 years old
