Hi!
I recently bought a laptop for college mostly but I was planning to do some gaming also.
Specs:
I5-4200u
GT750m
12gb RAM
W8.1

And all the games run like crap. seriously. I have updated nvidia drivers and stuff, But I get like 5fps at 720p on minium on CS:go, Same goes for other games like Insurgency, and company of heroes 2.

I also have this issue where in full screen the game just keeps minimizing to desktop over and over again so I have to play on windowed mode. Any suggestions or am I stuck with 5fps and windowed.

Thanks!

Solution
plug in laptop. Nvidia GPU not running unless plugged in to save power. You can change this via windows power settings (set to high performance on battery). Also, in nvida control panel, under manage 3d settings, change perferd graphics processor to high performance nvidia. For you BASE profile

I assume it has both Intel and Nvidia GPUs and that your system may be using the Intel GPU by default. I would think that you could disable the Intel GPU via the BIOS settings. Unfortunately, I can't confirm these assumptions because of network issues, but is worth investigating.

My laptop had been running in the power saving mode, turning the Best performance on seemsed to bumb the framerate nicely. Thanks!

Now what remains is the game minimizing all the time.

It just minimizes without me doing anything, it doesnt stay up anymore then one second or so. I have also tried running on different resolutions and nothign changed, and it happenss only in fullscreen

may be something from your sys tray. Or a program running in the background. Exit all auto-updaters you can see in your system tray, CTRL ALT DEL, Check your process, look for any updaters that are not Microsoft. Click services, hide microsoft services, look for any third part software that may be running. Check your EVENT VIEWER, immediately after a minimize, to see what caused the auto minimize.
