I used userbenchmark.com to get this result:
http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/2175202

I noticed immediately my GTX 1060 is under-performing. Any ideas why and how to fix it? Thank you!

To note:
1) I have 16 gb of ram but ran this test with 8 gb due to one ending up being faulty (after checking with memtest)
2) BIOS is updated to most recent version and is at optimized default settings.
3) I've reinstalled my graphics drivers with DDU successfully and it did not change anything sadly.
4) I'm using a ASUS VG248QE 144hz monitor dvi and a 30inch dell monitor hdmi.

Solution
Did you run the test with both screens on?
If yes, it might be that your GPU needs to render image on both displays so it will be under heavier load.

Here is my user benchmark now after unplugging my 30 inch monitor.

You are absolutely right! I feel so dumb after seeing this solution. Is there anyway to dual screen still without this hit on performance? Upgrading from an old computer I always preferred two monitors.

Thinking about it, the only way to reduce GPU load on dual screens is to SLI your card, but I wouldn't do that so I am afraid you can't do anything about it. Your card needs to render 2 separate images, both with a high resolution which means it will eat at least 30% of the performance power even on idle.

Alright, I really appreciate this as I was killing myself trying to figure out what was wrong. Thank you so much for your response!

I tested it out and with the monitor plugged in I lose about 100 frames in a few games I played including: League, Overwatch, and Battlefield 4. Don't know why it works like this 🙁

ok that shouldnt happen.

Can you monitor whats going on with the gpu on GPU-Z on the sensor tab? Would be interesting to the load, clock speed etc when gaming.

Its not locking it at 60fps is it?

I found the issue, it ended up being a multitude of things. Rainmeter was slowing my cpu down despite not having any active skins on it. Also a windows file was corrupted and I fixed that as well. I reinstalled drivers again and it works well. Thanks for the help though :)
