Hi there,
My friend is having a persistent problem on her computer with video rendering and loading.
The computer is self-built to be a gaming computer, mostly higher-end components. It has an AMD FX(tm)-8320 eight core processor, ASRock 990FX Killer motherboard, Cosair RM750 PSU, a CD drive, and I'm pretty sure a 250gb SSD in addition to a 500gb HDD.
As for the video card, which I assume to be the main issue, I am very confused what it actually is. It has "MSI" and "Twin Frozr" stickers on it, but says nothing further on the actual video card. I find complete lack of labeling very annoying with computer components (HOW ARE YOU EVER SUPPOSED TO KNOW HOW MUCH A RAM STICK IS??).
But, with prior knowledge from the packaging box, I know it's an "R9 270x". Edit: I think. The box is apparently misplaced. My issue is, every time I try to google this part, another name comes up. "MSI" "GeForce" "Nvidia" "Radeon" and then, whenever I search for updated drivers, I always end up at an AMD website. Idk. Whatever.
ACTUAL PROBLEM:
I think I've tracked it down to failing to display Flash or Shockwave add-ons. My friend plays a lot of League of Legends, and, suddenly, the computer would fail to open the LoL client when "launched". We also found that the computer will not play Youtube videos at all. "Playback error, try again later." In addition, when browsing around the internet, I discovered repeated "Shockwave player has crashed" error banners at the top. We have also (loosely to moderately) correlated the problem reoccuring when Windows automatically updates. (Windows 7 64-bit, with genuine activation code believe it or not). Sometimes the problem will persist for days, until, randomly, it fixes itself after several reboots and "blah blah, clear cashe, delete patch logs, blah blah," but it's random when it will work and not. Get it working, and, odds are, it will be broken again on the next reboot.
but when it works, it's flawless. Graphics are amazing, and performance is top-notch. It's on-off. When it works, not problems whatever, no flickering, "artifacing" or anything else. But when it doesn't work, nobody knows why or how to fix it.
