Issues with new card

i have an ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 TURBO-GTX1060-6G 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card and ever since I installed the card my computer has been trying to display two monitors when I only have one plugged in. I have two point pointers on my screen and every so often my monitor keeps going into "power saving mode" at random times. Whehn I run games the fps jumps up and down non stop between 1-55 FPS on games like DayZ and lags

What connection(s) are going to/from the monitor and computer? (DVI, VGA, HDMI, Display Port, etc.) Also check your display settings. Some systems have the ability to run projector function even when not connected (usually found on laptops, but have seen it available on towers for connecting a mirror monitor via HDMI).

In the Display settings, the second monitor probably shows as mirrored, but may be showing as extended. Make sure you choose the incorrect monitor and disable it. If you select the wrong one, don't worry. Just reboot into Safe Mode and it'll use default drivers and allow you to make return adjustments.

I have it connected by HDMI cable, the monitor also goes into power saving mode at random times. and I have to restart the pc for the display to come back on.

The power saving mode on the monitor is a direct result of not getting a signal from the source. I'm sure if you were to disconnect the HDMI and reconnect, the display would sense the change even though no picture appears on the monitor, indicating the monitor to be working correctly.

Are you able to get a screen grab of your display settings while it is up, temporarily?

Games FPS would go from 1-77 jump up and down, I exited out and brought up the heat meter and as soon as Dayz came up on screen it shot up to 101c before the game even completely loaded. Newegg believes the card is faulty and told me to send it back and exchange it for another one. So that is what I am doing but I will look into getting a new HDMI cable too

101C is not a normal temp for this card. Exchange sounds good. Glad to hear Newegg is taking care of you.
