I just recently bought a couple of items to upgrade some components in my machine. I bought :

Mobo -
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX
Link - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-128-514

CPU -
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz

I used the following components that I already had :

PSU -
Micro Velocity 850W

RAM -
Corsair XM3 3X 2gb sticks

GPU -
nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768mb

When I booted up after installing all the components. I immediately ran in to a problem I was hoping any of you could help with. I get no display at all I have tried several solutions none of which worked. I plugged my GPU into other pci slots and different monitors nothing. I tried using a different GPU ASUS 520GT done the same thing as with the 8800GTX and nothing still. I appreciate any help I can get. I should note too that I am switching from Intel to AMD. Thank you in advance

When the motherboard has been changed you have to re-install Windows from scratch using Microsoft Windows installation media so that Windows Setup can detect the new hardware and create a valid Product ID in the Registry (which is currently invalid).

Your current Windows installation just cannot cope with such a radical change of hardware.

Will just putting the windows os install disc into the drive automatically do what its supposed to because I get no display at all I wouldn't be able to navigate through the installation?

If the system doesn't POST, then you can't install Windows. How will you know what's on the monitor if there's nothing displayed? Star with only the minimum components outside of the case (PSU, motherboard, CPU, one compatible memory module and the GPU).

Does the motherboard beep? If not, take all of the ram out and try again if it beeps on startup. If not then take the whole system out of the case and to a wooden table. Hook up everything up except the ram and listen for dem beeps. If still not, then you should try with a another PSU. I have had a similar problem and to me it was the psu wich was faulty. It worked with previous motherboard but with the new it started up the lights and fans and everything but the computer just didnt boot even into bios.

ok will do thanks for the response ill give it a go.

no it didn't beep, and thank you I will give it a shot before I hook everything up again.

there isn't and it didn't come with one unfortunately..are there other ways of telling if the ram is connected correctly without a beep?
