Okay, I upgraded my 970 and 550w Supernova G2 80gold on my computer and then took the 970 and the PSU and put them into my sons build. He has an RX 470, with an 80 bronze 500w PSU, but wanted a little headroom.
After doing this I ran into some issues. The computer wouldn't post. Reset CMOS and nothing. After about an hour I removed 1 ram stick and formatted the SSD windows drive from my computer to do a clean install. In order to even get the bios to come back up I had to use 1 4gb RAM stick instead of both and then also when the new GPU is plugged in pushing the power button allows for a quick 1 second of the fan lights to come on and then it turns off and nothing. Now I'm to the point of being able to use both RAM sticks, but only in A1 and A2 slots, so only single channel. I still can't put the GPU in. I tried the GTX 970 and the RX470 in the PCI-Ex16 slot, but read that I could place it in the PCI-Ex4 slot. Gonna give that a shot, but I am posting on here to have a record of what I have been doing. The 500w was running the 970 just fine with the same settings, once I changed to the 550w PSU that's when things went down the crapr.
How do I get back to using the 2x4gb slots as dual channel and with a working dedicated GPU. The onboard gpu is working but that is temp just to reinstall everything that's required. Any ideas?

Also, I heard 3 beeps at one time.
The motherboard is the AsRock z170A-x1 btw
