I'm at my wits end trying to fix these issues. I had a PC built around August 2018, and around mid-November I noticed that most of my games are stuttering. Some games like Fallout 4 stutter frequently, others like DOOM 2016 and Black Mesa stutter much more infrequntly. Counter Strike Global Offensive is weird in that it stutters for the first couple of minutes and then is fine afterwards. The stutter is always the same in that the fps counter looks like it only drops by 3 or so fps, but visually it appears like there's a half-second to a second of stutter.
I've tried:
- Performing a Virus Scan for malware with Malwarebytes and Windows Defender
- Checked CPU and GPU usage and temps - nothing out of the ordinary
- Disabling DVR
- Disabling the Microsoft Game Bar
- Setting the NVIDIA control panel to 'Prefer Maximum Performance'
- Setting Windows power to 'Max Performance'
- Performing a fresh reinstall of my display drivers using DDU
None of these have fixed the issue, which still persists.
The other issue I have, which I don't know if it's related to the stuttering or not, is that some non-game programs, such as Razer Synapse, the Bethesda Launcher and Corsair iCue seem to drop my desktop's framerate from it's native 144fps down to 60fps, and cause a bit 'flickering' where the screen dims and returns to normal brightness quite rapidly. I haven't really seen anything online about it, let alone know how to approach fixing it.
My system specs are:
Windows 10 Home (64 bit)
ASUS ROG STRIX z370-E Motherboard
Intel i7-8700K CPU (stock clock)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (stock clock)
1TB Samsung EVO M.2 NVMe SSD
32 GB RAM
Running at 1440p 144Hz
Any ideas on how to fix this? My PC has a 3 year warranty so I could look into that, but I really want to make sure it's not a software issue before I go down that path.
