Question Issues with USB port PCB for keyboard

Hello,

I have an old Ducky Shine 3 (https://deskthority.net/wiki/Ducky_Shine_3), which is backlit. The USB-Mini-B port became unreliable which is why i wanted to replace it.

I ordered a USB-C port PCB (https://www.gloriousgaming.com/en-de/products/gmmk-2-usb-c-replacement-pcb). However, connecting the keyboard to my PC using this component causes an overcurrent, making the keyboard unusable. Now i can't get the keyboard to work with the original port at all and am unsure if i damaged it.

I would like to understand why the replacement component i ordered doesn't work. I think maybe it has to do with the keyboard being backlit, but my electronics knowledge is limited.

I was thinking of simply soldering a USB cable directly to the keyboard (It's a suggestion i found on google). But now I don't know if this would not also cause this overcurrent problem.

Any help is appreciated.
