Issues with video cards

So recently both my 980 TI's started smoking and I need to find a replacement videos and make sure my PCI E slots are not burnt out how would I approach that safely and what video cards are good replacements that are decently priced AMD or Nvidia? Please note that the 980 TI's was my first experience with NVIDIA and they burnt out after 2 years.

The cards might still be under warranty...You might check into that.

Otherwise, what's your budget? There are good cards on both sides at various price points.

I already looked into warranty thanks and I would like to keep budget under 600 hopefully. I do heavy gaming btw.

GTX 1080 and Vega 64 are comparable in performance, the 1080ti is the fastest card available.
