Have you tried using a different USB cable and plugging the drive to another computer? Can you please check how the WD My Passport external drive shows up in the Disk Management of your computer?
If you are able to see the external drive there, you should try to right-click on its volume and change the drive letter assignment.
IF that is not an option, you should check Device Manager and uninstall/reinstall the WD My Passport as a device.
