i wanted to buy a new cpu for my g31m-s motherboard, because it has a pentium dual core e5400 thats good but not that good.... so i looked up and found a qx9650 its the best (its what they said...) but the q9650 one has a higher rating on cpuboss, but then the xeon is better but then the pentium ugh. help me please oh and i need a lga775 cpu

ASRock G31M-S has been tested with Xeon x5460, which is interesting primarily because a pre-modded one is half the price of a Q9650.

Whether that is worth the hassle of merging the Xeon microcodes into your BIOS is up to you. Personally, I would find the inability to even use 4GB RAM on that board to be a more severe hindrance than CPU power, so a cheap $7 Q6600 is probably enough.
