So throughout the day some fantastic people have been giving me suggestions on how to optimize my gaming PC. I plan to overclock it, but i want it to be able to run any game on maxed out settings with 60 fps. So I was wondering if this machine would do it.

I was thinking that switching the motherboard to a Z77 version may make it better but I wasn't positive and need a little advice.

Solution
You don't need 16gb for gaming 8gb(2x4Gb) is plenty, use that extra cash to upgrade the video card to a GTX 760. At 1080p it wont max every game out but close, to max everything out you'd need to get 2 760's or a GTX780. If you switch the motherboard you'd have to switch the cpu aswell. The Z77 is socket 1155 and the Z87 and 4670k are socket 1150.I would stay with the 4670k as you have a future upgrade path with socket 1150, where socket 1155 wont be getting any more cpu releases.

Looks good but I would cut the memory down to 8gig really that is all that you will ever need for a gaming rig and that would save you about $60 on just the ram. As for going to a Z77 and say a i5 3570K that really all comes down to price. The difference in performance between a i5 3570K and say a i5 4670K is almost nil around 5-10% really. So if you can get a i5 3570K and a good Z77 motherboard for a better price go for it otherwise keep what you have. In any case I would reduce the ram to 8gig it will give you all the memory you are going to need.

I know I have 16gig in my signature rig but when I got it the price was around $60 because it was on sale as a dual channel kit at the time otherwise I would have 8gig in it also.

Thank you, for your help in making my gaming PC. I took your advice and am extremely excited for the results.

Wait, the i5 3570K is better? Or is the i5 4670K better?
