I havent built my own computer since the gateway 2000 days.. yeah its been a while. I've been using WYSIWYG iMac systems and such forever.. I finally decided I wanted to get back into PC gaming and build a pretty nice system.

Here are the components I found so far, trying to keep it below $4000 BEFORE monitors and small odds and ends...

Case: Aerocool X-Predator Devil Red Edition
Mobo: Asus Crosshair V Formula-z AM3+
Processor: AMD FX-9370 4.4GHz 8 core
Video: 2x Radeon R9 280X
PSU: Corsair RM1000 1000w
Memory: 4x8GB (32GB) Corsair Dominator Platinum
Storage: 1x SSD Corsair Force GS 360GB, 1x Seagate Constellation 1TB 7200RPM
DVD: whatever is cheap.. nothing special needed
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance k70 Black and Red edition
Mouse: Razer Naga Molten Lava
Watercooling:
- Motherboard (north and south bridge), CPU, Video cards
- Pump: Aquacomputer aquastream XT Advanced version
- Radiator: EK Coolstream 360 XT
- Res: Swiftech Maelstrom duel bay
- Tubing, fittings, dyes etc.
Fans: 6x AeroCool Shark Fan 120mm devil red edition (plus the 2 180mm fans that come with the case)

Any little tweaks you guys see could be made? Im not about your AMD vs Intel wars or your Radeon vs NVIDIA wars.. but anything you notice could be changed like diff ram modules, better watercoolers etc..

You said you don't want to hear the AMD vs Intel wars, but eight cores is not going to be supported by most games. And because the Intel processors have more power per core, I would suggest going with the new six core i7 Haswell. But just an opinion. If you understand this and still would like the AMD build, then go for it.

Which games do not work with 8 cores? and how would I be able to know which ones wont be supported? If I change this Id have to change the motherboard as well 🙁 Thanks for the educated heads up rather than the normal troll bashings 😉

Anything in particular besides gaming? Just asking as among other things 32GB is way overkill as is the 1,000 Watt power supply - also in addition to all the money going into water cooling (which is a fair amount) again it's overkill for a underperforming overpriced CPU, the 8350 offers the same performance slightly OCed at 125 watts vs the 220 watt 9370 and for Gaming at about $30-40 less the 4670K or even the 3570K outperform the 9370 for gaming and most everything except rendering

Haha no problem, I would check this out, http://www.techradar.com/us/news/computing-components/processors/intel-vs-amd-which-processor-is-best-936589

Also I'm not sure if any games support eight cores... but I don't really know because after figuring this out I just go with Intel. This also provides a good argument for both sides

And to be honest I don't believe ay games are utilizing 8 cores yet, and maybe not even 6.

from what Ive read a bit, games arent utilizing 8 cores right now but will in the near future (as the xbox one and ps4 use AMD 8 cores and games will be programmed for them in the future) but they will still run games, just not at full capacity for obvious reasons

I also do a lot of heavy graphic design, video and audio editing.. at any given moment I have things like photoshop, illustrator, indesign, dreamweaver and after effects running simultaneously.

I am basically trying to make an all in one beast that can handle my gaming needs as well as my art/sound studio demands.

That explains the 32GB 😉 , for that type work would move to the 1150 and go with a Asus Hero and a 4770K which OC's well, and beats the 9370 and even the 9590 AMD while still at stock speed (3.5) so think what it will do at even a moderate OC of 4.2 (I run mine 24/7 at 4.6 and it's a beast (in sig) 😉 On the gaming and the 8 core in the console - good reason for it, and it isn't that they'll need or even 8 core, it's AMD offered them up dirt cheap (which by the way squeaked AMD out of the red and into the black profit wise for the first time in I can't remember how long 😉 )

Now to decide if I DO go the intel path, which setup do I want to do..

Rampage IV Extreme Mobo with i7 Ivy Bridge or Sany Bridge

OR

Asus Maximus IV Hero with i5 Haswell or i7 Haswell?

decisions decisions..

UPDATE: I made a lot of changes and I think I am happy with this now. what do you guys think?
Here is a link to the new build...
I changed the Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Pump/Reservoir, Waterblocks for the components as well...

I'd go the Hero (good choice) and the 4770K, in fact that is what I built on and love it 😉, in fact my oldest son (he runs a IT shop for the Air Force) liked it so much for the video work he's been into recently he built a semi clone with a 4770K, Hero 32GB od 2133 vs my 2666) and a 660TI I had laying in the shop (though, after three days now he's going to order a Asus 280X)
