MSI 680i reference board WITH X-FI INTEGRATED!! **and** it's cheaper than the striker extreme (and WAY cheaper than previous speculation)???

I about crapped myself when I saw it!

yea, i remember the whole uproar about this mobo. Does XFI really add that much more?

And now that DDR3 mobos: http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=644&p=0
are coming out, wouldnt you want to have that tech in a HIGH-END board?

I want to build a comp w/in the next couple weeks.. so no.

DDR3 is new, and not a technology that I really feel like waiting on. The cards are out, this board is out, and the 7K1000 is out (but WAY too high for me, so I'm not going with it).

Only thing left is to wait for the prices of the 8800s to go back down after the buyer's rush :/.

Dude the buyers rush has been going on for 6mos. What Nvidia needs is competition. They arent like Intel, who lowers prices without pressure from competition

No.. the buyer's rush just started yesterday when the 2900xt dropped.

People either went "Yay, I'm a fanboy! My favorite card is here even though it's way more than other cards that can beat it!" or, "damn... looks like the 2900xt sucked as expected.. guess I'll get a 8800."

Both prices are up because the results are in... the GTSs are up at least. Still not 100% sure if I want a GTX or GTS... though I'm leaning to the GTX.

Do you realize that just a month ago the patriot extreme/OCZ rev 2 was that price??? I was excited that the OCZ/PE dropped to the $100 mark, but with that amazing deal I'm definitely going w/the Ballistix!

I had marked them off my list because of the huge price difference, so thank you for the heads up!!

lol its MSI and the reason they use a card for sound is to cut the noise level down from components etc

I had forgotten all about that board. I remember when researching boards for my build back in December thinking that that board looked interesting. I had also given thought to waiting to see what ATI's new GPU's would do. In both cases it would have been a long wait.

I ended up not getting it, because it wasn't going to get to my house in time for me to postmark it by the 18th.... which is when you have to postmark it by.

Yeah.. I was purchasing at 12:30 in the morning...

bad time to be playing w/thousands of dollars.

I ended up contacting newegg and getting the 1066 stix... heh.
